PAX Unplugged is back in Philly for another year! Unplugged is a spinoff of the very popular annual PAX gaming convention, after organizers realized that many attendees were drawn to the tabletop RPG and board game aspect of the original. Now, PAX Unplugged has its own annual event at the Philadelphia Convention Center, solely dedicated to all things tabletop gaming. The event features panels, tournaments, new game demos, artists, vendor booths in the expo hall, and of course, tons of games and free play space. It’s a great place to meet new friends who are interested in the same game as you, especially if your game is a bit niche!

One great event at PAX is Learn and Play, where gamemakers and industry leaders host instructional sessions to teach you how to play their games. It’s a great way to pick up a new favorite, and is definitely worth making time for if there’s one of the list that you’ve been wanting to learn about.

Additionally, the Playtesting events are some of the coolest to go to! You get to play unreleased games and give your critiques and feedback to the makers. It’s a lot of fun, and they take PAX suggestions seriously. It’s cool to be able to potentially inform how an upcoming game is played.
